Rapeseed Meal

Canola refers to the oily plants of the Brassica crocifera. In Canada, new canola varieties whose oil and meal are of particular quality are called canola. The canola seed is one of the most widely used oil seeds in the world, with more than 44% of the oil.Its meal is also qualitatively close to soybean meal and contains about 35% protein, so it is a very rich source of plant protein in animal and poultry nutrition. In addition, soybean meal has about 44% protein and is low in methionine amino acids and has some growth inhibitors such as trypsin inhibitors. Livestock accounts for about 2 percent of the cost of livestock feed, so the idea of using canola meal as a nutrient in poultry nutrition seems feasible. One of the most important issues in the poultry industry is the provision of adequate feed and rations so that it accounts for more than 70% to 75% of costs. Therefore, in order to achieve optimum and economical production, it is necessary to provide feedstuffs and especially low-cost protein and energy sources appropriate to poultry needs. In this regard, protein sources are more restricted and usually more expensive than energy sources. Often, the most common protein source in most parts of the world is oilseed meal. The amount of oilseed planting is directly related to the amount of meal produced for use in poultry feed, since the remaining oilseeds after extracting the oil, known as meal, are the major protein sources used in poultry nutrition.Soybean meal is the major source of protein used in poultry diets due to the better balance of amino acids. But in recent years the price of soybean meal on the world market has greatly increased. Therefore, consideration should be given to the possibility of using other oilseed meal to replace soybean meal in the poultry diet.In this regard, rapeseed meal as a new and inexpensive protein supplement can be considered. There has been a lot of experimentation and research in Iran and abroad regarding the use of rapeseed meal as a new and inexpensive protein source for fish meal and soybean meal in poultry diets. In recent years, there has been increasing interest in the use of varieties of rapeseed meal that contain both erosic acid and lower glucosinolates.Despite the development of double-digit canola (canola) cultivars in agriculture, the question remains whether they can be included in poultry nutrition programs. Reports of the impact of rapeseed meal feeding on poultry performance vary, for a variety of reasons, including the type and age of the bird, the type and level of rapeseed meal used, the environmental conditions tested, the different nutrient and anti-nutritional levels in the poultry. He mentioned the experimental diet.
Canola is one of the oilseeds belonging to the family Cruciferea and the genus Brasica. This oil contains approximately 42%-43% of the oil.
In oilseed oilseed rape, about 40% oil and 50% to 58% meal are obtained. The crude protein content of rapeseed meal is from 32%to 38%. The rapeseed protein has a very good amino acid composition and is comparable to that of other oilseeds. But like other plant protein sources it is limited in lysine content. But in terms of methionine and cystine it is on the right level. With less lysine and more methionine, it is equivalent to soybean meal for the essential amino acid balance.
The energy content of rapeseed meal is lower than that of soybean meal, because the rapeseed meal contains higher fiber and less protein. The fiber content of rapeseed meal is 12% to 14% but soybean meal fiber is about 2%. Its metabolizable energy is 2.8 to 4.7 MJ / kg dry matter for poultry.
